The Tudors Timeline Activity

The Tudors Timeline Activity

The Tudor dynasty was a family of Welsh origin that ruled England from 1485 to 1603. During this time, England underwent significant social, economic and cultural changes. The Tudor period saw the rise of powerful monarchs such as King Henry VII, King Henry VIII, and Queen Elizabeth I.

To begin the lesson, students will be given a list of the Tudor monarchs and their reigns. The students will then use this information to create a timeline that displays the length of each monarch’s reign and the chronological succession of the family.

Students could choose the format of their timeline, whether a physical one using paper and markers or a digital timeline using any online timeline maker of their choice. We recommend Canva or Visme. They will also be given guidance on researching and presenting their findings.

After the students have created their timelines, they will present them to the class. The class can ask questions and give feedback on the students’ timelines.

Creating a timeline is an effective way to visualise and understand historical events and their relationship to one another. Through this lesson, students will gain a deeper understanding of the Tudor dynasty and the monarchs that ruled England during this time period. They will also learn the importance of research, organisation and presentation skills.

So, let’s dive in and discover the wonders of the Tudors through a timeline activity!
