Investigating the Ancient Past Introduction Lesson outlines the main features of history and archaeology. The focus of this Investigating the Ancient Past lesson plan is for students to understand the role of historians and archaeologists along with describing and explaining the different approaches to historical investigation taken by archaeologists and historians. With the inclusion of the “Primary and Secondary Sources” and “Preserved Artefacts” worksheets, students will be able to list a range of sources used by archaeologists and historians in historical investigations and understand the process of historical investigation to examine a historical controversy or mystery.
